The most important decision one will make in their lifetime is that of what they have done with God's plan of salvation. The Bible teaches that all mankind have been separated from God as a result of Adam's sin in the garden of Eden. Because of that sin, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ as man's substitute and sacrifice for sin. God is Holy and Righteous and is completely separated from sin. While it is God's desire that all would recieve His free gift of salvation - all men have a choice as to what they will do in response to Christ and His ultimate sacrifice on Calvary (His shed blood). Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, and took upon Himself our sin so that we might be freed from its penalty.
While the Bible has much to say concerning the subject - it is important for all men to realize and act on that one time event that occurred almost 2000 years ago. A sinner must do the following in accord with what the Bible says concerning the subject of eternal salvation:
1. Realize that he/she is a sinner - (Romans 3:23) "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 5:12) "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." The sin of man has been passed down to him and results in everyone being separated from God. If a person dies in that condition, the Bible says that he will spend eternity in Hell. (John 3:18 / Rev.20:15-20) 2. Repent The term means to have a change of mind. When a sinner is convicted by the Holy Spirit; that his sins have separated him from a Holy God, repentance is that change of mind towards God, his sin, and his standing before God. The Bible teaches that "The Lord is . . . not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9) It involves a sorrowing over sin and a desire to be in right relationship with God.
3.Receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. God never intended for any to spend eternity in a Devil's Hell. He provided salvation as a free gift to all who will receive it. (John 1:12) " But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name". Salvation has been provided for ALL, Jesus Christ provided all that was needed for man to be delivered from his sin. All men and women must respond by receiving Jesus as their Deliverer. (Romans 10:13) "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
The question I leave with you today - - - What Have You Done in Response to Jesus Christ Taking Your Place / Have you trusted Him as your Savior?
